![]() Now that 1:18 GI Joe has gone dead officially from Hasbro, I have seriously considered going to ebay and buy all Spy Troops and VvV figures I like. GI Joes were all good too.įrom the vehicles, I remember being at the store and seeing the Humvee (jungle I think) and the Defense Mech. Guys like Cobra Slicer and other Cobra figures were not much to my liking, but in general I liked them all. Specifically about Valor vs Venom, I remember there were some figure designs I didn't like. Never got any of those, but my parents were good enough to get me the MCC re-release (probably the grail of those years). Although it certainly doesnt compare to the greatness of the classic 1980s series, Valor verses Venom is a surprisingly enjoyable new adventure with a generous helping of nostalgia thrown in to satisfy Sunbow fans. I remember being at the store and seeing the Brawler (Hammer re-release), Night Attack Chopper, the Grizzly Patriot tank, Smoke Screen transport. I love all of them, but I think I like more Spy Troops. I had these as my first action figures, then Gi Joe vs Cobra, Spy Troops and Valor vs Venom came. I'm younger than most of you, by the time I was ready to play with action figures Gi Joe was out of the market, there was only Lanard Corps. Series: Twenty One (2005) Sand Viper (version 5) was released as part of the twenty-first series (2005), packaged with the Air Assault as part of the Valor vs Venom line. I will concede however, that there were some really great vehicles during that time period. SAND VIPER (v5) COBRA DESERT INFILTRATORS. Spy Troops was an improvement over JvC, and VvV was even more so- in fact, there are many figures during VvV that were excellent, and the DTC stuff was even better.Īt the end of the day though, I was only ever really in it for the ARAH repaints (another thing that make ST and VvV stand out- those 6 packs), and to this day, that's the only thing I ever really have any interest in from the era. ![]() ![]() I hung in there though, sticking around through Spy Troops and on into VvV. I dutifully bought what was offered, and they threw us a bone here and there with a few repaints, but I just felt that they were inferior in every way. That all came crashing down when the first new sculpt line, Joe vs. Joe, and I had a very happy year and a half buying everything I could find at retail and discovering that I could buy any old stock I wanted online. Initially, I was super excited for the return of G.I. I was pulled back in 2000 after a whole 6 years away by the RAHC collection and have been here ever since (not "here" here, but "here"0.
